This week I'm working on a video for Harvard Grad School of Education which features some really incredible people doing their best to leave this world a little better than they found it.
One student, Logan, has been particularly inspiring. A few years ago when Logan was about 19, his good friend Mario passed away from MD. His dying wish was that Logan look after his younger brother, Darius, who also suffers from the disease. Sadly, MD is 100% fatal - usually by the age of 19. Since Darius at the time was 15, he knew that he only had a few years to live.
Darius had never left his hometown of Athens, Georgia, but Logan had a big idea. What if they took a cross country trip with some friends with the goal of getting Darius' wheelchair tricked out by MTV's Pimp my Ride?! It was on. They bought a camera, rented an RV, and hit the road. 300 hours of tape and thousands of miles later, the film, entitled Darius Goes West, was ready to edit.
With the help of a major corporate sponsor, the film was entered into over 30 film fests, was awarded dozens of honors, and covered by national press outlets.
Logan made a promise to his friend Mario that he would look over Darius. He has kept that promise, and also vowed to look after every other kid with MD - he has raised millions of dollars with his award winning film - 100% of which will be donated to MD research.
Take a few minutes to watch what Logan and Darius say is not a trailer, but is a vehicle for a cure...
